A pregame game that starts in a minute
The best pregame game is the one you can quit mid-round without anyone minding.
What a pregame needs
People arrive at different times, half of them are still getting ready and everybody is watching the clock. A game with a long setup or a winner who only appears after an hour does not survive that. Rounds of a few seconds do.
How to fit it in
- Put the chip out as soon as the first guests sit down. Late arrivals grab a hand and join the next round.
- Keep the deck short: pull fifty cards for a pregame so it ends on time.
- Pick a non-drink penalty for whoever is driving and make it a good one.
Ending on a high
When the car is outside, the last chip of the night decides who sits up front. It is a better ending than putting the cards back in the middle of an argument.
